Leon Feinstein

Commissioner

Leon Feinstein is the Professor of Education and Children’s Social Care at the Rees Centre. Previously, he was the Director of Evidence at the Children’s Commissioner’s Office. He has also held the post of Chief Analyst in the Delivery Unit in the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury. He has a PhD in Economics from the University College London. Leon is a Fellow of the British Academy of Social Sciences, a visiting Professor associated with the Centre for the Analysis of Social Exclusion at LSE and the Rudd Centre at the University of Sussex. Leon is a Trustee at the What Works Centre for Social Care, the Centre for Youth Impact, and is a Member of the Youth Endowment Fund Grants Committee and NSPCC Research Advisory Group. Leon had a career spanning HE, government and the third sector working on uses of evidence to inform policy and practice and has recently returned to the University to continue work on applying evidence to policy and practice to improve children’s lives and experiences and on the theory underpinning such attempts.
